International Dot Day!

This week in art, every grade celebrated National Dot Day by reading The Dot by Peter Reynolds. We talked about how to inspire others, how to spread acts of kindness, and how to make our positive mark at Byam. Next, we made our own dot using analogous colors on the color wheel (colors that are next to each other) with oil pastels and tempera paints. We talked about how to create a resist, and how water and oil don't mix so the pastels show up on top. Check out the beautiful artwork below! What do you love about Byam School or what are you looking forward to this year?

This year, I asked students to write on a post-it note what they love about Byam School or what they are looking forward to this year. We placed all of the post-its on the Art Gallery board, take a look!

The Great Wave

Last year, the fourth graders at Byam School created this large mural below based on Hokusai's the Great Wave. With some help, it is now hanging up in the cafeteria! Amazing work fourth grade!
