Dear Parents,
I am
looking forward to a productive and exciting school year as your new Byam
Elementary School Art Teacher! I will introduce your children to different
materials and techniques to help them create artwork they are proud of. We will
be focusing on how art allows
us to learn about our history, culture, and community, and also how it lets us
express thoughts, ideas, and feelings about the world we live in.
My Goals as an Art Teacher
1.
Teach
students how to respond to different artwork using the elements and principles
of design
2.
Encourage
self-expression through different mediums
3.
Recognize
how art impacts our daily lives and explore different careers in art
4.
Learn
from important artists of different time periods to understand how art changes
over time
5.
Ensure
that every student gains confidence to create beautiful works of art in a safe
and productive environment
Curriculum
We support a curriculum that meets the Massachusetts Visual Arts
Standards. This curriculum allows students to develop critical thinking,
self-expression, and knowledge of methods, materials, and techniques of the
visual arts.
Class Behavior
To maintain a safe
productive learning environment, your children will follow art class
guidelines. Each child is expected to follow class guidelines so class time can
be used for learning.
Art is important
because it requires self-discipline and allows students to problem solve in a
creative way. I enjoy working through visual problems with my students and
helping them persevere until they reach success. I believe every child in my
class is important and that students should always come first. If you have any
questions, please email me at currym@chelmsford.k12.ma.us
Sincerely,
Molly Curry
